Jerry Clay from Giorgio Armani and designer, Dafne Chan supported FW: Chicago women’s magazine launch at Pump Room on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

Though the lights are dim, the energy is magnetic at the modern and iconic Pump Room at the Chicago Public Hotel. Six shaggy, white chairs in the back center of the room became the new meeting place for career women—from those who just graduated on Sunday (congrats!) to media moguls.

Styled in laced up pumps paired with the latest in chic buttoned-up dresses and over-sized skirts to match, nearly 100 fashion and food bloggers and other entrepreneurial women gathered to celebrate the new women’s magazine in town, FW: Chicago.

FW: Chicago has an all-female team  of seven digital strategists, social media butterflies and editors led by Kendra Chaplin, Vice President of Operations for Human Capital Media (HCM) and Founder of FW: Chicago. These chic and savvy Chicago women produce digital and print original content about the lifestyles and careers of fellow Chicago women who live, work, and play in the city.

The magazine launch party was held on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Men and women attendees sipped on complimentary wine and made their way across the room to snack on red velvet cupcakes and Tiramisu mousse from A Sweets Girl. Light conversations of business mixed with pleasure lasted well into the night of this two-hour event. The attendees left with black tote bags, which included a June preview issue of the magazine along with other goodies.

The preview issue was light, but filled with vibrant color and rich content about female entrepreneurs. Article titles were written with a black sharpie font to give the magazine a scrapbook look. They included: Meet the Team, Game-Changing Workouts, Female Leadership: Overcoming Obstacles and Stereotypes, Stealing the Spotlight: African Cuisine, and the cover story, Leading By Example, which explores and inspires women to be leaders in their community through one woman’s story.

The official FW: Chicago magazine launches in September. Until then, support it on social media, read articles on the website, and see the team around the city at Chicago events this summer.

Cheers to fabulous women doing fabulous things!
